Looking forward to RGD Seminar!

Wow what a wicked week last week! I'm ready for a break and wouldn't you know it. I have The RGD seminars on Wed/Thurs with my designer buddies Iles and Jared. Should be fun with the guys as we sit back and watch the show. Finished my office here in the basement and will post images once I'm fully moved in. It's taken a while but, it's worth it.

 

Halloween is coming and my girls are pumped. Favorite time of year as a family.

 

Just got an iMac 20" at work and it's so sweet. Need to get book on OSX and get up to speed. Brought the G3 home just in case I may be able to just work here depending on how things go.

Have CommTech AQ class tonight. Did Computer AQ homework most of yesterday and couldn't fall asleep. Hard to wind down after all that typing. I'm enjoying it for the most part and am starting to get caught up. Thought of a website I want to setup to gain employment... should be neat.

Where the heck is the time going...

Wow. It's been busy with work and school and at home. Lots to do so little sleep and even less training. I've been fighting something I think had a headache for 2 days and it's still lingering today. Double-class on the road this week. Need to do more for on-line course this weekend and my head won't stop when I'm trying to sleep. Got server up at work and getting Mac at noon tomorrow. Hired a designer to help. Lots of creative... home is steady. Go to daughter's IPP at 2:30pm.

 

Ate at Tim's Horton's last night on my own for about 10 minutes on my way from work to class. Feel like I'm a rock star!

No time to scratch and surface for air...

I better get used to the fact that the next little while is going to be tres busy. Trying to get good night sleeps. It'll be my saving grace. Work is really busy 3 catalogues, lots of web stuff and internal server things. Got everything we pitched for last Friday. It went really well obviously - be careful what you wish for...

Just have time to ride in early morning. Family is very busy too with school. I have school which is picking up. Time will fly by as is evident by taking a week to post. Listening to Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Not bad. Thought it would be funnier.



Did one fun creative piece on Monday. Client is messing with it as is usually the case. Have to pee on it. It was fun none-the-less.

Today I have to design the inside of another catalogue. How many different designs are there hehehe... Getting a Mac at work and will bring the older one home. Step learning curve to get back into catalogue work having only done 1 a year.

Great Day off

Taking today off and about to head out to Oliver (the musical) at Stratford. I'm going with my youngest daughter and the school. Should be awesome. Will have a full written report on it lol...

 

Bought a new suit (two older ones way TOO big after my weight loss. Two big client meetings tomorrow. One actually big after Ecorite. Pitching tons of creative. Should be pretty cool. Hope being Friday the 13th works in my favour. Should since I'm born on the 13th.

Looking after the youngest today. Did a bit of CONT970 (Teaching Computer Science Level 1) today. I'm the first and only person to use the Discussion board so far. Pretty lonely. I've enjoyed the reading about Learning so far... going to keep an electronic journal for the course.

Lots of remarkable ideas are being generated in my head b/c of Seth Godin's books. I really like what he talks about and it gets me motivated. My boss commented on the fact that I'm doing the best work I've ever done in the company. I'm getting it... try to help clients do something remarkable so they the will stand out in the crowd.

Saying it loud..

Met two fellows yesterday at work who want a website. These two are loud and fun. We decided we'd go for a rock band look. I left them after asking lots of question. The following are what I'm suggesting to market their company (they are multi-line reps).

Took shots of them for another project. But the one fellow was awesome during the photoshop and we got some good shots.

Using the band theme. I created this home page. I'm going to suggest they (this fellow anyways) wears loud shirts as his character. Will come up with something else for the other fellow. Suggest they create tour (with show theme) posters that they can put in dates in magic marker and get to customers before the date for them to put around the office. Allow visitors to their site order the posters. As well, fax tickets with dates etc to customer to simulate real tickets. Wear lanyards on visits. Allow on-line show bookings and maintain a blog where they both will contribute without comments. Offer specials like backstage passes and contests.

Things are clicking along..

Still haven't had a chance to do trim. Hopefully this weekend and the room will be done and I can move stuff in. Starting to miss things as they're all in boxes.

Started on-line Computer AQ. Suppose to take 125 hours. Lots of posting and journaling which I'll give my best shot. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Think it'll be more work than Comm Tech. we'll see...

Did creative for 80 page catalogue pitch. My boss went in and sold it. Owner and top sales guy picked this one. Well the top sales guy loved it and I think my boss will be able to sell him on it. Just doing the design. No photography of product and printing which is cool.

Trying to keep my training going although it's been tough - just getting 5 hours a night.
